Raido-Frequency Identification (RFID)

USMILCOM Inc uses the MIL-STD-129P
standard for its’ military shipping label requirements. Revision
P requires DoD contractors that ship material to the Government to provide
both linear and two-dimensional (2-D) barcodes on shipping labels.
Specific information, such
as linear barcodes, National Stock Numbers (NSNs), serial numbers, Contractor
and Government Entity (CAGE) codes and contract numbers may be contained
on the RFID labels.
Pallets with RFID labels will
enable shippers and carriers to:
- Consistently monitor
pallet security and integrity.
- Speed shipments
through the supply chain.
- Verify that a pallet
was loaded at a loading point.
- Significantly reduce
tampering while in transit.
- Gather data to conduct
a ‘virtual inspection’ in advance of arrival.
- Guarantee that shipping
meets governmental security regulations.
- Receive fast track
or ‘green lane’ preference.
- Avoid extensive
delays in shipment and receipt.
- Minimize the cost
of handling.
